BIO/BACKGROUND
Erin Spink is the Principal of Spinktank, a consulting and training firm specializing in Volunteer Engagement. She is a contributing author to the CCVA textbook and the Engage Journal, and she has trained and spoken internationally. Erin delivers thought-provoking keynotes that challenge Leaders of Volunteer Engagement to be the strategic, powerful resources they are within their organizations and communities.
Erin's interest in volunteers started early-at the age of six-when she declared that while it was wrong to eat animals, hamburgers from McDonald's came from "volunteer cows," so an exception could be made. Erin holds a Certificate with Distinction in Volunteer Program Management and an M.A. in Leadership, where she submitted the first-ever academic research quantifying the concept of "volunteer engagement."
Her thought-leadership work has been published worldwide, including in the CCVA accreditation textbook. For several years, Erin has volunteered as a member of the Engage (formerly e-Volunteerism) Journal, leading the Training Designs section and now serving as co-editor for the Ethics column. She has also co-authored Points of View articles with Rob Jackson. After 20 years of working in Volunteer Engagement, she has humorously changed her mind and no longer believes in eating volunteers.
