About the Event:

The Teddy Bear Picnic in the Park is a fun-filled family event aimed at deepening community connections. It's a way for families to gather, connect and meet other families while creating lasting memories. There will be crafts, games and other activities, including a balloon artist and prizes.

Who Should Volunteer:

This volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone who wants to give back to the community in a fun and engaging way. Whether you are a student looking for volunteer hours, a retiree wanting to stay active, or someone who loves community events, we welcome you!

Volunteer Tasks:

Volunteers play a key role in the success of Hi Neighbour events. We need 8 enthusiastic volunteers to assist with various event-related tasks.  Volunteers will help with:

  • Pre-event setup (setting up tents, chairs, tables for stations)
  • Managing the Missing Child tent according to  protocols provided
  • Managing the flow of people
  • Assisting with arts and crafts, activities and keeping the station clean
  • Assisting with games and ensuring fair play
  • Supporting the balloon artist as needed
  • Assisting at the refreshments station (juice, water and popcorn) and keeping the station clean
  • Post-event tear-down and clean up

Important information for volunteers:

Volunteers are asked to arrive 45 minutes before the event starts for a volunteer briefing and to help set up. The volunteer briefing will cover:

  • Volunteer roles and responsibilities
  • Missing Child protocols
  • Event flow
  • Who to contact in case of an emergency.

Safety Precautions:

As this event takes place outdoors, volunteers are encouraged to:

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Bring sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for sun protection
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
  • Take breaks as needed to avoid over-exertion
  • We will provide water and shade to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Why You Should Volunteer:

Your support helps us create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where families can come together and enjoy a day of fun and connection.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience that allows you to:

  • Make a positive impact on your community
