Description

Young Life is a Christian mission, loving teenagers in their world and encouraging them to know Jesus Christ. We are passionate about being connected to the next generation—linking them to trusted adult mentors, to one another, and to Jesus.

As a Capernaum Leader, you’ll step into the lives of teens with disabilities, building friendships where they feel valued, included, and loved. You’ll help make sure every Young Life experience—Club, Camp, and Campaigners—is welcoming and accessible, creating spaces where teens can encounter Christ and discover life to the fullest.

This is the right role for you if you are someone who:

  • Is committed and passionate about serving teens with disabilities

  • Has a committed and growing relationship with Christ

  • Is excited to grow in their leadership abilities

  • Cares about teenagers, enjoy relating to them, and can meet them ‘in their world.’

  • Demonstrates patience and flexibility

  • Embraces a team mindset for ministry

  • Will honor the time and schedule commitments of this role

  • Can get comfortable with being uncomfortable!

A Capernaum Leader’s main tasks are:

  • Leading teens through contact work, casual hangouts, and guiding them at Club and Camp

  • Growing in leadership by joining team meetings, area gatherings, trainings, and retreats with support from Capernaum staff

  • Leading and assisting at Club through games, skits, and talks, while adapting activities to be accessible for all teens

  • Supporting Capernaum teens at camp through one-on-one care, cabin times, and mentoring

  • Discipling Campaigners by mentoring new Christians, teaching the Bible, and helping them grow in faith and leadership

Training & Experience
Leaders receive training, mentorship, and ongoing support from Capernaum staff to help create inclusive and welcoming spaces. No prior ministry or disability support experience is required—just a heart to serve, a willingness to learn, and a growing relationship with Christ.
