UPDATES:
AS OF June 27, there are now more shifts for the remainder of July/August under a new post: https://www.ivolunteer.ca/need/detail/?need_id=625222
UPDATE: the location address sometimes displays in odd spots on the page layout, so here it is: Salvation Army food bank buildings, right hand side of church parking lot at 46420 Brooks Ave.
Just arrive a few minutes early for whenever you’ve chosen a shift and all will be explained as you begin.
15 Volunteers will be needed to do deliveries. We estimate that each volunteer will have to deliver approx. 2-3 hampers, which should take approx. 1 hour to complete.
Route maps will be provided. Deliveries will be grouped close together wherever possible.
Clients that are requiring deliveries will be asked to be available from 10am to 11:30am if they are not home, I presume the hamper would come back to warehouse.
Broader details:
Through United Way funding to meet the food insecurity needs of local Chilliwack people that haven’t been served by other food hamper services, Chilliwack Community Services and Salvation Army are teaming up for this food bank initiative called the Local Love Food Hub.
Chilliwack Citizens For Change (Community Cares Initiative) is partnering with these organizations to gather volunteers to prepare and deliver approximately 60-65 hampers each week. The project will run for eight weeks starting Thursday, May 21.
