Small update:
Funding was secured to continue Food Hub beyond the original eight weeks.
We are now posting volunteer shifts running through the entire summer via a new posting: https://www.ivolunteer.ca/need/detail/?need_id=625221
Thursday morning -8:30am -11pm
4 Volunteers: to be on site to assist in getting delivery hampers organized—including packing hamper boxes—and getting the hampers ready for pickup, general cleanup and teardown of the warehouse after hampers are handed out.
UPDATE: the location address sometimes displays in odd spots on the page layout, so here it is: Salvation Army food bank buildings, right hand side of church parking lot at 46420 Brooks Ave.
Just arrive a few minutes early for whenever you’ve chosen a shift and all will be explained as you begin.
Broader details:
Through United Way funding to meet the food insecurity needs of local Chilliwack people that haven’t been served by other food hamper services, Chilliwack Community Services and Salvation Army are teaming up for this food bank initiative called the Local Love Food Hub.
Chilliwack Citizens For Change (Community Cares Initiative) is partnering with these organizations to gather volunteers to prepare and deliver approximately 70 hampers each week.
