Can you help shop and deliver groceries to a neighbour with a disability in Vancouver?
How this works:
Once you've responded to this need, we'll forward your name and contact information to the neighbour. The neighbour will contact you within 24-48 hours before the shopping day to arrange grocery shopping details with you.
Although we have scheduled the shifts for 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, there is some flexibility for a later time or a Sunday as well. This could be coordinated with the neighbour after you respond to a 2:00 p.m. posting.
Please email us at cindyc@uwlm.ca if you don’t hear from the neighbour within 48 hours of the shift you have signed up for.
When you’ve picked up the groceries and you're ready to make the delivery, phone the neighbour in need with an approximate arrival time so that they're expecting you. When you arrive, phone the neighbour to let them know you’ve dropped off the order at their front door. If they live in an apartment building, please wait until they arrive at the front door to pick up their order.
Time Commitment: 2 hours.
This is a recurring commitment to fulfill an immediate need. You may sign up for one or more shifts
Your health and safety are important to us.
Maintain physical distancing by keeping a minimum 2-meter distance between you and any other person not in your immediate family.
Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands thoroughly and often. Wash hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds and rinse under clean running water.
