Can you be a walking companion for a senior neighbour in Port Coquitlam?
A volunteer is needed to accompany an isolated senior who is facing a medical condition. Her doctor has recommended that she walk as much as possible, so she is hoping to go on regular walks with a volunteer (masked and distanced) in the neighbourhood.
How this works:
Once you've responded to this opportunity, we'll email this neighbour's contact information to you. This is meant to be a friendly check-in walk with light, cheerful conversation.
Time Commitment: 30-45 minutes.
This is a one-time commitment, with recurring shifts available. The neighbour is hoping to go on walks every day of the week, so if you can sign up for regular or multiple shifts, please do!
Additional Information:
- Volunteers will not be needed for rainy or colder days due to the neighbours medical condition.
- The senior will be walking slowly due to her condition and taking occasional rests during the walk.
- Volunteers are required to wear masks and follow physical distancing protocol (maintain 2 metres apart from neighbour).

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR VOLUNTEERS: Please contact (mandyg@uwlm.ca) and info@ivolunteer.ca immediately if:
- you feel unwell before or on the day of your shift.
- you are unable to fulfil your shift commitment. If possible, please try to provide a minimum notice of two days to allow us to make alternate arrangements or find another volunteer.
REMINDER: It’s important to unregister yourself from the shift if you are unable to fulfil your commitment – this will allow another volunteer to register for your spot.
