Did you know that the Squamish Welcome Centre's Community Bookstore & Computer Lab is a volunteer-run, community endeavour? The Squamish Volunteer Centre Society is looking for volunteers who are interested in quirky books and community engagement to work the front desk on Tuesdays from 12noon to 4pm.
This is a Bookstore & Frontdesk Volunteer Shift, which means you'll ring up bookstore and computer lab customers, help people who come in asking for information about programs and services, and connect clients with the Squamish Newcomer Services. Front desk volunteers also pick out and wrap mystery books, hang out in the bookstore, and accept used book donations.
The non-profit has a wide mission and lots of interesting programs - There's lots of room to grow, explore, and learn.
Self-directed and curious volunteers are very much welcome, but we can give some direction as needed too.
