Volunteers Needed for Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc – Emergency Support Service Program
Over recent years in B.C. there have been an unprecedented number of severe heatwaves, wildfires and flooding, making it clear the real and present impacts of the changing climate and the urgent need to prepare for them. As one of the Host Communities during these climate-related events, Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc needs to secure reliable volunteers who are able to respond when there is an emergency. An emergent event in the Kamloops region includes - but is not limited to - spring freshet, atmospheric rivers, heat domes, and wildfires.
Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is looking for volunteers who to do the following who can register evacuees who are coming to TteS due to displacement because of wildfire, floods, etc.
Training will be provided for:
- Emergency Services Support (ESS) Registration Software
- ESS Basics
- Cultural Sensitivity
