About the event:
Our Seniors' Summer Tea is a heartwarming event designed to bridge generations, enhance social well-being, reduce feelings of isolation and bring joy and laughter into the lives of our seniors. It's a unique opportunity for seniors to share their wisdom, feel connected, and engage in meaningful conversations with younger generations in a casual, relaxed setting.
About the role:
Volunteers play a crucial role in making our events successful and run smoothly. Whether you enjoy facilitating conversations or ensuring the event runs smoothly, you have a role to play in making a difference and contributing to the well-being of our seniors.
This role may appeal to individuals who enjoy socializing, have good communication skills, are outgoing and are passionate about building community connections, organized and want to gain event management skills.

Key responsibilities:
After setup, volunteers will be assigned as Conversation Ambassadors at each table.
- General event set up: assist with setting up tables, chairs, decorations, and lay-out refreshments.
- Ensure the event area looks welcoming, clean and organized before the event.
- Greet seniors as they arrive.
- Facilitate engaging conversations at each table. (We'll provide suggested topics or games).
- Bring food to the table and serve tea to seniors at your table.
- Share conversation starters or topics that are relevant or might be of interest to seniors.
- Ensure everyone at your table feels included and has the opportunity to participate in the conversation.
- Assist seniors with any needs during the tea.

Safety precautions for volunteering in the summer:
- Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the event to stay hydrated
- Wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun
- Dress in light breathable clothes and comfortable shoes
- Contact the event organizer if you begin to feel unwell from the heat during the event.
Volunteer information session:
An online information session to review the event's format and volunteer roles is scheduled for July 29th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The session link will be emailed to the volunteers.
