Better at Home Volunteer: Light Yard Work
Summary:
As a Volunteer Light Yard Worker, you will be assisting seniors with yard tasks related to keeping them living independently in their own home. Tasks limited to lawn maintenance, leaf raking, path clearing and light weeding in the general yard area.
Key Activities:
Light Yard Worker Volunteers will:
-Have some level of yard work knowledge or the ability to take direction from the senior
-Assist seniors only with aspects of yard work that they are not able to do for themselves
-Abide by the Oath of Confidentiality Agreement related to senior information
-Take direction from the Program Coordinator or designate
-Respect and comply with Summit Community Services policies, procedures, codes of conduct and ethics
Other Helpful Information:
Light Yard Worker Volunteers will:
-Be responsible for their own transportation to and from the client’s home for yard work services
-Demonstrate patience, understanding and empathy for vulnerable populations
-Pass a criminal record check
-Be in a suitable physical condition to perform the light yard work duties that you agree to
-Be sensitive towards seniors and people from diverse cultures
-Have good communication skills
-Provide three (non-family) references
