The Seniors Team at DIVERSEcity is seeking Volunteer Drivers for our Hot Meal Program. Volunteers will help deliver meals to seniors in the Surrey area, matching drivers with clients who need assistance receiving their food.
With every ride, you'll make a difference in your community and put a smile on a senior's face!

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver prepared meals to assigned clients' doorsteps on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Receive client details, addresses, and food quantities via email from the coordinator on Mondays and Wednesdays.
  • Confirm availability by replying to the coordinator’s email.
  • Collect meals from Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar before delivery.
  • Record and report mileage at the end of each month (mileage report submission will be reminded via email).

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to follow delivery instructions.
  • Must be able to handle meals with care and ensure timely deliveries.

What We Provide:

  • Food containers and PPE kits for packing volunteers.
  • Support and guidance from DIVERSEcity staff.

Inclement Weather Plan: Meal Delivery Safety First: Drivers should assess road and weather conditions before heading out. If it is unsafe to drive, please do not attempt to make deliveries. Contact the program coordinator to inform them of your inability to deliver due to weather conditions. Alternative Arrangements: The program coordinator will attempt to reassign delivery routes to other available drivers or reschedule deliveries. If deliveries cannot be made on the scheduled day, an alternative delivery plan will be communicated. Communication: Drivers will receive notifications regarding any changes to the delivery schedule due to inclement weather. Keep your contact information up-to-date with the program coordinator to ensure you receive timely updates. General Guidelines: Health and Safety: Prioritize your safety and well-being. Do not take unnecessary risks in adverse weather conditions. Updates: Regularly check your email or phone for updates from the program coordinator. Flexibility: Be prepared for possible changes in the schedule and remain flexible to accommodate adjustments.
