Role Overview:
Companion Care Break volunteers play a vital role in supporting both seniors and their
caregivers by providing companionship to care recipients enrolled in our Caregiver Support Program (CSP). Your
visits help create moments of joy, connection, and engagement — whether it’s
sharing stories over coffee or doing a fun activity together.
Each visit is an opportunity to build trust and brighten someone’s day. Activities are personalized to match the senior’s interests and abilities and may include:
· Friendly chats and reminiscing
· Playing cards or board games (e.g., Crib, Rummikub)
· Seasonal crafts or light gardening
· Singing familiar songs or sharing music
· Other relaxing and meaningful pastimes
Time Commitment:
· About 1–2 hours per week, scheduled based on your availability
Your Responsibilities:
· Spend time with care recipients and engage in enjoyable, interest-based activities
· Offer companionship and emotional support, especially to those with cognitive or physical challenges
· Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and compassion
· Always maintain strict confidentiality
What We’re Looking For:
· Warm, patient, and empathetic individuals who enjoy spending time with seniors
· Able to commit to weekly visits and build rapport over time
· Must complete a Criminal Record Check for the vulnerable sector
· Provide two references
