The President of Volunteer Kamloops serves as the chief officer of the organization, providing leadership to ensure the mission, vision, and values are upheld while fostering community engagement and volunteerism. As this is an operational board, the President plays a hands-on role in the organization’s daily activities, guiding strategic initiatives, and serving as the primary representative of the organization. The President is responsible for presiding over meetings in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order and ensuring that operational tasks are effectively carried out by board members and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations
• Serve as the presiding officer at all Board of Directors and General Membership meetings, ensuring the effective application of Robert’s Rules of Order to maintain order, fairness, and efficiency.
• Oversee the direct implementation of policies and procedures aligned with the organization’s bylaws and operational needs.
• Coordinate board members and staff to execute daily operations, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
• Act as a liaison between the Board, staff, and community stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and collaboration.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
• Represent Volunteer Kamloops in community events, partnerships, and public relations efforts to promote volunteerism within the community.
• Foster relationships with community groups, non-profits, government agencies, and businesses to strengthen the organization’s impact.
• Advocate for policies and initiatives that support and enhance volunteerism in Kamloops.
Strategic Planning & Organizational Development
• Work with the Board to develop and implement strategic plans that advance the organization’s mission.
• Ensure sustainable financial management by supporting fundraising, grant applications, and donor relations.
• Encourage an inclusive and welcoming environment that engages diverse community members in volunteer opportunities.

Board & Committee Oversight
• Support and oversee staff in operational roles, ensuring tasks are effectively executed.
• Provide mentorship and leadership development opportunities for Board members and volunteers.

Meeting Facilitation & Decision-Making
• Ensure all discussions and decisions adhere to Robert’s Rules of Order, promoting democratic decision-making and respectful dialogue.
• Cast the deciding vote in the event of a tie.

Qualifications & Skills
• Experience in leadership roles within non-profit organizations, community groups, or volunteer initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Robert’s Rules of Order and ability to facilitate structured and productive meetings.
• Passion for community engagement and a commitment to strengthening volunteerism in Kamloops.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to guide the organization’s growth and sustainability.
• Willingness to actively participate in the hands-on operations of the organization.

Term & Commitment
• The President serves a term as defined in the bylaws of Volunteer Kamloops, with expectations for active participation in Board meetings, community events, and operational initiatives.
