Description: Our ongoing programs need volunteers to assist with the activities or events, such as the monthly potluck on the last Thursday of the month from 11:30-13:00 and the monthly art workshop on a Friday from 11:30-13:00 or 14:30-16:00.
Kamloops Immigrant Services (KIS) helps newcomers in Canada with free programs and services designed to reach their goals and dreams in their new life in Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Region.
As a KIS activity assistant you will help support different types of activity programing we put on for newcomers to get them connected to our community and services. You’ll be assisting with activities or events, like monthly potlucks, educational workshops, community events, sport and adventure activities, and much more.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for those who are still learning English.

Main tasks are:
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of activities and events
- Engage with participants to encourage involvement and enjoyment
- Provide support during activities (e.g., arts and crafts, games, music, exercise)
- Help staff monitor the safety and well-being of participants
- Offer companionship and conversation
- Maintain a respectful and inclusive atmosphere
No prior experience required. Training and introduction will be provided!
Time commitment:
2 hrs. per week. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 3 months.
