Chapter members are volunteers who make up the membership of Ducks Unlimited, which is a volunteer run organization. Members of the Kamloops Chapter attend several meetings a year where ideas are put forward and assessed for use in our fundraising efforts that support wetland and waterfowl conservation. All chapter members take part in the decision-making process. From there general members take part in activities related to the organization of the fundraising activities.
Becoming a chapter member is perfect for someone who:
Cares about nature conservation
Wants to make a positive impact in their community
Enjoys working as part of a team
Is interested in event planning or fundraising
Likes meeting new people and building connections
Has a few hours a month to volunteer their time
Wants to support wetland and waterfowl conservation in a meaningful way
Chapter members are general volunteers who wear many hats. They can take part in chapter activities such as:
Selling tickets to the planned event(s)
Soliciting cash or gifts in kind from local merchants
Making decisions on how to best make use of the items at our disposal
Set up for the fundraising event
Take part in things like organizing guests, displaying merchandise, selling raffle tickets and distributing prizes during the event.
Event clean up
And more!
You won’t be required to do all tasks and can use your areas of strength or interest to help the organization in the way that suits you best. No chapter member is asked to take part in any activity that is out of their comfort zone. No experience needed!
Comfortable soliciting local businesses and selling raffle tickets would be an asset, but not a requirement.
Time Commitment
On average Chapter members are expected to attend 3 or 4 evening meetings of 2 hours duration per year. They are also asked to help with the main fundraising event on Nov. 14.
