Ducks Unlimited is a volunteer run organization made up of volunteer members. Members of the Kamloops Chapter attend several meetings a year where ideas are put forward and assessed for use in our fundraising efforts that support wetland and waterfowl conservation.
There are about 12 active members in the chapter that hold the responsible positions of Treasurer, Ticket Control, Arrangements, Soliciting and Chairperson. This volunteer opportunity is looking for someone to become Assistant to the Chapter Solicitor. This position would work with the Chapter Solicitor member and be prepared to take over if the person was unable to fulfill their duties.
Becoming Assistant to Treasurer/ticket control is perfect for someone who:
Is comfortable making cold calls to businesses and corporations with a view to obtaining donations
Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
Is confident speaking to people in person, by phone, and via email
Can write clear and persuasive solicitation letters
Is organized and able to track donations and follow-ups
The Assistant to Treasurer/ticket control would take part in chapter activities such as:
Attend meetings (about 4 per year)
Letter writing for the purpose of soliciting cash or gifts in kind
Making follow-up calls to businesses and sponsors
Performing some basic record keeping and computer data entry
