Description

As the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in Canada, The Salvation Army offers support to society’s most vulnerable. Locally in Kamloops, we help with food security, programs for children and youth, seniors and families, as well as disaster support. To provide these resources during the Christmas season we run our largest fundraising campaign called Kettles.

Kettles Bell Ringer volunteers represent the Salvation Army during this holiday campaign. As a Kettle Bell Ringer you play an important role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that encourages donations. You are encouraged to engage with the public in different ways – from shaking the iconic kettle bells, to singing carols, or simply wishing passers-by a Merry Christmas.

This is the right role for you if you are someone who:

  • Loves to get into the Christmas spirit

  • Enjoys spreading cheer

  • Wants to make a difference while interacting with people

  • In comfortable engaging with the public

A Kettles Bell Ringer Volunteer’s main tasks are:

  • Answer basic questions about the campaign.

  • Facilitate and encourage the public to donate.

  • Thank donors for their donations.

  • Keep the kettle secure buy ensuring donations are handled properly

  • Report any suspicious activity or issues to the supervisor

  • Ensure your station is tidy and presentable

  • Arrive on time and stay for the full duration of your shift

No prior experience is needed!

Time commitment:

Volunteers sign up for shifts of 2 hours at a time at one of various kettle locations set up around town (at grocery stores, etc.) during the period of 6 weeks from mid-November to Christmas Eve. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 8 shifts throughout the season.

Volunteering in this role offers you:

  • A meaningful way to make a difference during the Christmas season.

  • The chance to brighten someone’s day through simple, cheerful interactions.

  • The opportunity to volunteer alongside a friend or family member.

  • A rewarding experience that directly supports your local community.

There is no greater feeling than knowing that through your volunteer service, the public has been given the opportunity to donate, and together you are changing lives!
