Description

The Interior Women’s Centre Society is a community organization dedicated to empowering women and families. We provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where women can access support for challenges like legal issues, housing, and advocacy. Our goal is to help women overcome barriers and build independent, sustainable futures.

As an Employment Coach Volunteer at IWCS, you’ll provide one-on-one career support to women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, helping them explore job opportunities, improve their readiness for work, and navigate their career paths with confidence.

By volunteering, you’ll directly empower clients across BC’s Interior, many of whom face systemic barriers, helping them secure jobs, return to work, or gain the confidence to pursue meaningful employment.

This is the right role for you if you:

  • Are passionate about helping women and gender-diverse individuals achieve economic independence.

  • Have experience or interest in career coaching, HR, employment services, or social work.

  • Are a good listener—patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental.

  • Enjoy mentoring others and celebrating their progress.

  • Can work independently while maintaining confidentiality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to identify employment goals and create personalized action plans.

  • Support clients with resume & cover letter writing, job searching, and interview prep.

  • Provide info on local employment programs, training opportunities, and services.

  • Help clients build confidence and recognize their strengths.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client sessions.

  • Collaborate with IWCS staff and volunteers to ensure consistent, trauma-informed support.

Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer position with flexible hours. The time commitment is expected to be approximately 5-10 hours per week, based on the availability of the volunteer and the needs of the clients.

As a volunteer, you’ll receive:

  • Training and guidance in trauma-informed care and employment coaching

  • Networking and collaboration with IWCS staff, volunteers, and community professionals

  • A chance to build coaching, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Meaningful relationships and the satisfaction of helping others succeed.
