Pitstop is a program run by Kamloops United Church where volunteers come together every Sunday to provide a nutritious meal for the members in our community who are struggling with food insecurity. Teams of volunteers help to prepare hot meals, sandwiches, and goody bags to hand out at no cost to members of the community.
The volunteers prepare this hot meal in the kitchen, package it into individual meal containers, and are ready to hand it out. As the organization is 100% volunteer-driven, people from different organizations, clubs, agencies, churches, etc., come together to make and serve these meals and goody bags.

A Hot Meal Prep Volunteer’s main tasks are:
Helping with meal prep
Packaging the meal into individual containers
Loading up the containers in a thermal box
Cleaning and clearing the area after the activities,
No prior experience is needed!
Time commitment:
The Hot meals are prepared at CMHA Rosethorn Kitchen, 259 Victoria Street West, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm every Sunday (this is a temporary location).
