Since 1995, the Kamloops Food Policy Council(KFPC) has been pollinating and nurturing food sovereignty and food security in our region. For nearly three decades, we’ve worked to combat hunger and inequitable food access through community connection, policy advocacy, programs, partnerships, and mutual support.
The KFPC relies on public interactions at events and markets to create awareness of our organization within the community. As anEvent/Market Volunteer you will be a key part of outreach by helping KFPC staff distribute information, assisting with sales at our table and more!
This is the right role for you if you are someone who:

Wants to give back to the community but may have limited time availability
Is a lifelong learner
Is passionate about local food, cooking, gardening, etc.
A Event/Market Volunteer’s main tasks are:
Being present at our booth during community events/markets
Promoting any specific events/surveys/campaigns
Encouraging participation with any interactive display elements
Respectfully represent the KFPC as an organization
Distributing promotional materials/signing people up for newsletter/gleaning/et.
Assisting with setup/teardown of event booths/displays
Requirements/Training
Prior to any events/markets you will have all information sent to your email. Instructions/training will also be provided once present at the event.
Please note:
We need our volunteers to be physically able to lift 10-20lbs
Valid FoodSafe1 and/or Serving It Right certifications are assets. Some events involve food and drinks, you will be notified prior to any event that requires these certifications.
Time commitment
We only require volunteers to be present for their assigned shift and to regularly check their email inbox for volunteer opportunities and event/shift details. Commitments are flexible and can match your schedule.
