Description

The Tree is the part of Kamloops Family Resources Society that provides programs and services focused on women’s belonging and recovery.  At The Tree we walk with women and their families, facilitating healing, connections and support. Our drop-in program provides families with healthy food, peer-based social support, connections to professional services, clothing and baby equipment, health and parenting workshops and other special events and activities.   

As a Community Support Volunteer, you will help families feel comfortable and connected as they access our programs and services. This role provides hands-on support with food share, donations, activities, and the upkeep of our space, ensuring the center remains safe, warm, and inviting. By assisting both staff and participants, you will play a key part in building the sense of community, care, and belonging that is central to our mission.

A Center Support Volunteer’s main tasks are: 

  • Greet participants as they come into the center. 
  • Direct participants to the appropriate staff member.  
  • Assist with setting up and putting away Food Share - Food bank donations that are brought to the center for participants on Monday and Wednesday mornings. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of the center, including lawn/garden/walkway maintenance. 
  • Receive, organize and store incoming donations. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of donation room.   
  • Set up and put away supplies for activities and/or events.  
  • Assist in facilitation of workshops and/or events.  
  • Answer the phone and assist with administrative tasks.   

No previous experience is required — just a willingness to help and a heart for community! Experience in customer service, hospitality, or community programs is an asset, but not necessary. Full training and ongoing support are provided to ensure you feel confident in your role.
