Our kitchen located at 601 East Hastings Street provides daily meals to community members, shelter guests, Men’s Recovery program participants, volunteers, and staff. We don’t just serve food; we create connections and build relationships- one meal at a time. The kitchen is also often the starting point of countless transformative journeys at Union Gospel Mission.
This special guest volunteer opportunity provides you with a chance to try out a few shifts and get a taste of what it's like to volunteer with our Hastings Kitchen team on Wednesdays,Thursdays, and Fridays.
Tasks
- Assist with preparation of ingredients and meals
- Organize incoming food donations
- Serve hot meals to community members with a smile
- Adhere to food safety and kitchen safety procedures including proper hair protection and wearing closed-toed shoes and gloves
