Description

Program Description:
Nanaimo Family Life Association is looking for compassionate volunteers to support seniors through our Assisted Grocery Shopping Program. Many older adults want to continue shopping independently but need a bit of physical support to do so safely.

Volunteer Role:
Volunteers meet a senior at a local grocery store and provide light physical assistance, such as:

  • Pushing the grocery cart

  • Lifting and placing groceries into the cart

  • Carrying groceries to checkout or to the senior’s vehicle

This role is about offering practical help and friendly presence, allowing seniors to shop with dignity and confidence.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Friendly, reliable, and patient individuals

  • Comfortable providing light physical assistance (lifting grocery bags, pushing carts)

  • Able to commit to regular visits (weekly or bi-weekly)

What You’ll Gain:

  • A meaningful way to support seniors in your community

  • Flexible scheduling

  • The chance to make a direct, positive impact in someone’s daily life

Requirements:

  • Criminal record check (arranged with Nanaimo Family Life Association)

If you’re interested in helping seniors stay independent and connected in their community, we’d love to hear from you!
