Bridging Generations Program Support Volunteer

Program: Bridging Generations
Location: Coquitlam City Centre Library (Coquitlam, BC across from Coquitlam Centre)

Program Schedule: Tuesdays, in-person from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (and one at-home four hour shift on a day and time that works best for you.)

Team Meetings: Mondays online from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (preferred, but not required)

Program Session Assistance: In-person starting in October (may fall on a Tuesday or Friday) and will be after 3:00 p.m.

About Bridging Generations

Bridging Generations is a Low Entropy Foundation program that brings people from different generations together to build meaningful connections, learn from one another, and strengthen their sense of community and belonging.

Through facilitated activities, conversations, and shared experiences, participants have opportunities to develop new relationships, exchange knowledge and perspectives, and reduce social isolation.

About the Volunteer Role

We are looking for someone who has strong computer and administrative skills, is comfortable making phone calls, is friendly, reliable, organized, and community-minded to help support the delivery and growth of our Bridging Generations program.

This is a hands-on role that combines in-person program support, online meetings, community outreach, participant recruitment, and sponsorship outreach. The volunteer will work closely with the Low Entropy team to help create a welcoming experience for participants while also helping us connect more people and organizations with the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Support

    • Attend weekly Bridging Generations sessions on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Coquitlam City Centre Library.

    • Starting in October, help with program set-up, participant check-in, activities, and other general program needs. (Day & Time is TBA)

    • Welcome participants and help create an inclusive, friendly, and engaging environment.

    • Support the program team with other tasks as needed during sessions.

  • Participant Recruitment & Community Outreach

    • Help promote upcoming Bridging Generations sessions and encourage community members to register.

    • Follow up by phone and email with community partners, non-profits, and other organizations to share program information and encourage referrals.

    • Help identify new organizations and community groups that may be interested in connecting their members with the program.

    • Assist with registration follow-up and communication with prospective participants.

  • Sponsorship Outreach

    • Reach out to local businesses and community partners about opportunities to sponsor Bridging Generations sessions.

    • Help identify potential sponsors and build relationships with businesses interested in supporting community programming.

    • Work with the Low Entropy team to communicate sponsorship opportunities and follow up with prospective supporters.

Time Commitment

  • Required:
    Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for in-person program sessions at the Coquitlam City Centre Library.

  • 4 hour shift one other day of the week where you will work from home making calls for sponsors and emailing organizations for recruitment.

  • Preferred:
    Monday team meetings at 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory.

  • Some additional flexible time will be needed during the week for participant, community partner, and sponsorship outreach.

  • Is organized and able to follow up on outreach activities.

  • Is interested in community development, social connection, non-profit work, or intergenerational programming.

  • Can reliably attend the Tuesday meetings in-person.

Experience in community outreach, program support, fundraising, sales, or relationship-building is an asset, but not required.
