Who We Are

Chilliwack Learning Society creates and widens opportunities for learning. We support individuals to achieve their learning and literacy goals in both formal and informal learning opportunities. We are strengthening our community through literacy and lifelong learning.

What We Do

  1. Provide services and programs to adults who wish to learn. Our Volunteer Tutor Program, EAL Volunteer Tutor Program and Financial Literacy Initiative train and support volunteers to mentor and tutor adult learners to achieve their personal or workplace goals. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, these programs include activities such as computer courses and Tech Help for Seniors, Understanding Money workshops, and EAL Conversation Circles.  Volunteers are supported by contractors and resources, monthly workshops, and an annual appreciation event.
  2. Encourage children's interest in reading and literacy through the Bookworm Friends program, that connects young children with older adults to share the joys of reading.
  3. Foster connection and creativity through Ink & Imagination, an intergenerational journaling program that brings youth and older adults together to share stories, ideas and self-expression through writing.
