The Jr Black Achievement Awards Society (JrBAA) is excited to host our Community Picnic in the Park, a lively celebration of our young achievers and community networking. The Picnic in the Park aims to foster a sense of unity, celebrate the achievements of Black youth, and provide a platform for organizations to showcase their work and engage with the community. JrBAA is happy to partner with several community organizations and businesses to showcase their work and highlight their initiatives.
The Need
To efficiently manage and maintain parking operations, ensuring a smooth and secure experience for guests while maximizing parking capacity and enforcing relevant regulations.

What you will be helping with

Monitor and control access to the parking lot.

Assist guests with parking-related inquiries, provide directions, and offer an excellent guest experience.

Conduct routine patrols to enforce parking regulations, identify violations, and initiate appropriate actions.

Maintain the orderliness of the parking lot.

Ensure the availability of parking spaces by efficiently directing traffic and organizing vehicles in designated areas.

Coordinate with security personnel or law enforcement if necessary to handle incidents or emergencies.

Keep detailed records of notable parking lot activity and any incidents or complaints.
Additional information
- Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the event start time to attend an orientation session about your role.
- We welcome and encourage volunteers to rotate duties to allow for networking and to bing your picnic baskets.
Attributes
- The ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests, addressing their concerns and providing assistance.
- Clear and effective communication to convey parking regulations, provide directions and handle guest inquiries.
- Diligent in observing parking lot conditions, identifying violations, and accurately recording information.

Volunteer Requirements
All volunteers must:
- complete and submit your JRBAA volunteer application https://jrbaa.org/volunteer
- complete a criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
- sign United Way British Columbia’s volunteer waiver
- be personable, friendly, and patient.
- be willing to work as a team, take direction from JrBAA staff, and be able to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with local parking laws, regulations, and procedures and the ability to apply them appropriately.
Boundaries
Parents are responsible for minors. Volunteers do not supervise minors or provide child-minding services. Volunteers cannot accompany children to the washroom.
